The most well known city of the area is Ancona, which is often the first destination travellers arrive at. A little south of Ancona you can find the unspoiled nature reserve Monte Conero and the so-called Riviera del Conero, which is the coastal area around Portonovo.

The gently rolling hills of Piceno are covered in vineyards and orchards, whose farmhouses offer genuine tastes of the past.
